Prayer for Burma/Myanmar
May 8, 2008 by spiritualcourage
The situation in Burma (formerly known as Myanmar) continues to deteriorate as a result of last Saturday’s devastating cyclone and they need your prayers.
The Associated Press reported Wednesday that American diplomat Shari Villarosa said the number of deaths could eventually exceed 100,000 because safe food and water were scarce and unsanitary conditions widespread. The United Nations reported there were 1 million homeless people. Also, there were reports that the country’s military junta was making it difficult for some international aid to get into Burma, according to Associated Press.
According to the Open Doors’ World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the worse persecution. Burma is No. 25 on the list of 50 countries. It is approximately 90% Buddhist and 4% Christian. As stated in the World Watch List:
As believers, we should PRAY for those who are suffering in Burma:
LEADERS:
Pray for the Burmese borders to be opened to allow relief aid to come in
Pray the leaders of Burma will honor the efforts of those around the world who want to help the survivors
HEALTH:
Pray that disease will not spread
Pray that food, clean water and shelter will be delivered to the most needy as soon as possible
SURVIVORS:
Pray for those who are in shock and frightened
Pray for those who’s homes have been demolished; that they’ll find safety and shelter for their families
Pray for acts of courage, kindness and harmony
Pray that Christians in Burma will feel peace and comfort of worldwide prayers
Pray that the tens of thousands of people missing will be found alive
OTHER:
Pray that believers around the world will hold this country up in prayer, and remember even after the media has forgotten them
Pray that volunteers will be many and will not grow weary
Please leave comments and your prayers for those suffering…and send this link to everyone you know, asking them to hold up this country in prayer!

Teams of people who can care and pray for the devastated areas in My. must go forward. Please encourage people to go
Heavenly Father, my heart aches for the people of Burma! I pray you would soften the leaders hearts, strengthen the faithful’s resolve and compassion, and I pray that you’re saints would bear your mercy and grace to those in need.
Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
let those who love Your salvation
continually say, “God is great!”
Burma is afflicted and needy;
hurry to them, God.
You are their help and their deliverer;
LORD, do not delay. (Psalm 70:4-5, HCSB amended)
In Jesus Christ’s name I pray - Amen.
I was in Myanmar in March and saw first hand the huge opportunities there for the Gospel, and many excited young Christians busy spreading the Hope and Freedom of Jesus!
I have just sent off my visa app to return to Mynamar and see what help and hope we can offer. Pray for the Lord’s will and provision.

It is heart breaking to see the devestation and horrendeous loss of life! Our family is praying for those in particular who cannot find food and water, and especially those who cannot find their loved ones. They need the Lord and it is our prayer that God comforts and rescues them for despair and hoplessness. He is a mighty God!
Dear Lord,
Help the people of Burma to receive you as Lord and Savior. May the Doors of opportunity be opened thru this this period of need. They will receive physical help as the leaders hearts open because you have heard the crys of the people and it reaches your very ears. amen When I look upon the hills from whence my help comes it comes from the Lord who made Heaven and earth. You Oh Lord our Shepherd and Master
It is beyond comprehension to see the destruction of a country in the magnitude that Burma has experienced. I thank the Lord for all the help that is being sent, and for all the people that are giving their time and energy to be there and encourage the people of Burma.
May God strengthen the living and may comfort all those that have lost loved ones. We are praying for all of those suffering and hurting. We serve a God of miracles, and pray that He will reunite loved ones during this difficult time.
Amen to all the prayers!! I’ve passed your blog and prayer requests to others via my blog, and our little church is praying too. The world doesn’t realize how even worse off they’d be without the Holy Spirit praying through believers!
Lord, remind us to be thankful in our own circumstances, and to continue to pray for the brokenhearted, the sick, the poor, the weary, the wounded, the orphans and widows. This is true religion, and the least we can do considering all You’ve done for us!
Burma is actually not the name of the country; it is Myanmar (formerly called Burma). Praise God for the 4% of the people who are Christian and follow you in this devastated country that they may be a shining light in the darkness and let the courage that only you can give Heavenly Father be a beacon to the lost in that dark, dark country, Lord. Its borders have been closed for so very long, use the Christians for your good will and purpose. Strengthen and give strong hope to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Many of of our brothers and sisters in God our Father are suffering and dying, lost and alone, without you Lord; Holy Spirit, find the way to their hearts and open them before it is too late.
The sufferings the people in Myammar are going through is unbelieveable…. THIS IS INHUMANE!!!!!
Prayers is the only answer at this moment. We need the power of prayers for the Lord to intervene and save these people. Lord we turn to you for your power of healing and grant a miracle during this time.
I have forwarded emails to all my friends and people whom i know asking for prayers. I know this is our only hope at this moment. Please do the same. God bless….
Our church specifically prayed for the orphans left in wake of this disaster. Pray that they are preserved from human traffickers and led into safe houses and orphanages in places like Thailand.
I am praying for those in China, and Burma as well as those having to deal with the natural disasters everywhere. Keep doing what you are doing, Open Doors. Please continute to keep us updated.
“Do not think you will be heard for your much speaking” (Jesus)
my translation: 1-word and 2-word and 3-word prayers are o.k. & heard in such as way as to be answered by our Lord
“help!”
“save them!”
“send them angels!”
“…but I say to you PRAY for those who hurt you…”
(Jesus)
my translation: pray for mean people and corrupt govt. officials
“Daddy, save their souls”
“Jesus, cause them to see you everywhere, even when they don’t want to”
“In your name, Jesus, you promised whatever we ask in your name, you would do….our prayer is for IMMEDIATE aid to happen, not only in the natural, but first in the invisible, so please move and convert the hearts of the govt. officials and police force and cause there to be great rejoicing in heaven by angels for all the You are already doing which we don’t see - increase the faith, in Your name, of the believers there that they when they lay hands and pray immediate miracles happen. Oh, we thank you, sweet Father and sweet Jesus! I know you have answered this and Thank You!!
Amen.
Holy Spirit we ask you to work in the hearts of the Burma Goverment. The supplies ships are waiting and the coldness of their hearts needs to be broken and only you can do the work. I pray also that You will bring comfort and peace to those who are waiting for aid. In the Name of Jesus we ask for miracles to happen and many will be raised up from their beds. We pray also for the Karen people of Burma who are suffering in the jungle of Burma. They are unable to return to their villages and the children are frightened. May you hide them under the shelter of your wings from the enemy and break down the enemies that continue to assault them. In Jesus’ name I break for the hearts to be changed and conviction brought to allow the people of Burma to live in peace and fellowship with the Lord.
