A Christian mother in Egypt has won custody of her twin sons from her estranged husband, who had converted to Islam and claimed them according to Islamic legal precepts. The boys, who are now 15 years old, will still be considered Muslims despite their desire to remain Christian. On June 15 the Egyptian Court of Cassation ruled that Kamilia Gaballah could retain custody of her sons Andrew and Mario, even though their father converted to Islam and the boys’ religion also changed as a result.
It is so encouraging to hear that Kamilia Gaballah has custody of her sons. However, at the same time, the three have a lot ahead of them. The battle is not over. In fact, the boys have another major obstacle ahead of them….in Egypt, when you turn 16, you must apply for identification cards. If these ID cards say that you are Muslim, you cannot change that.
We praise the Lord for His Sovereignty in letting these boys stay with their mother. We ask that He would intervene in future court cases and allow the boys permanent ID cards to read Christian instead of Muslim.
Prayed right away for these 3 precious people. May they find favor with the govt. officials and get their right documents.
They are taking a stand for the Lord. He will help them.
