about Open Doors USA…
December 12, 2007 by spiritualcourage
Millions of Christians around the world face daily the possible destruction of their property, their families and their very lives. For over fifty years, Open Doors has pursued a singular purpose: to stand with persecuted Christians… building their courage, meeting their needs, sharing their stories and championing their faith.
How Does Open Doors help the Persecuted Church?
Bible & Literature Distribution
Our ministry continues to put Bibles, commentaries, evangelistic tools, training materials, hymn books and other Christian literature into the hands of persecuted believers.
Leadership Training and Assistance
Through the years, Open Doors has learned that training and encouraging pastors and church leaders is the most effective way to support local churches, especially those facing persecution. We help these leaders study and teach the Bible in a way that brings the courage of truth to their people.
Christian Community Development
In order for God’s people to remain as a light in the darkness of persecution, individual Christians must be able to live and work in these environments. We help strengthen Christian communities so that they can continue to share the love of Christ and bring the gospel to those around them.
Prayer/Presence/Advocacy
Those who are persecuted cry out for our prayers! Open Doors equips US believers to stand with the persecuted in prayer, and takes teams around the world to encourage and pray directly with those who are under pressure. Our advocacy program enables ordinary Christians to seek justice for the oppressed by influencing those in positions of political power.

Thanks for the blogroll link. We’re going to be rolling out our blogroll shortly and will be sure to include you in it. My first mission trip was three years ago, and it was with OpenDoors USA. Did the Bible distribution in Asia. I’d love to be more specific about where and how but prefer to err on the side of caution for your organization’s sake.
Oops! Commented with the wrong website address. I’m visiting from Compassion - http://blog.compassion.com.
Received you letter asking for prayer for Burma. I am simply speechless right now and will be in earnest prayer for them.
Hello, spiritualcourage, peace to you.
I saw your comment on an atheist’s post that was making fun of Christians and Christianity. I appreciate it, as well as the other Christians’.
Your site looks wonderful. I am wondering if you include in your help those Christians who have been labeled as heretics and cultists by apologetics groups. I mean do you help all Christians, regardless of denomination or Christian affiliation?
I am interested to know, because your org is unique. I know a few quiet Christian groups who are being persecuted by their fellow Christians by marking them with bad labels fit for unbelievers. I have seen how unbelievers mock the Christian Faith. I have also seen how Christian apologetics groups mock other Christian groups who do not agree with their doctrines.
In any case, I greatly appreciate and admire the noble cause you are working for.
It’s true we need the suffering church as much as they need us. I find myself indebted to the Christians who are living for God in hostile territory…indebted because of their courage and passion for Christ, so selfless and so real, which catches my heart and causes me to love the Lord and desire to love Him more and more.
Imagine the joy of worshiping with them in Heaven forever.
